Unbundling Your Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) from
your Telephone Service.
Customers who have
both telephone service and DSL from the local telephone
provider typically have a bundles service offering. Meaning;
that your current telephone number is used to deliver your
high-speed internet service. To keep you existing DSL service
and transfer you telephone service to us you will need to:
1. Contact your local telephone company and request that
they unbundled your telephone and DSL services - "Naked DSL"
or "dry/naked loop". Note: Once you do this your phone line
and your internet connection will no longer be associated with
each other.
2. Your DSL provider will assign a virtual
number to your DSL connection and your existing phone number
will become a stand alone line. This enables you to switch to
us as your new service provider without disconnecting your DSL
connection.
3. Important! Do NOT cancel your existing
phone line. In order to transfer a line to SubSpace
Communications the line must be active. Once your existing
telephone provider unbundles your services, we'll issue a
transfer number request. This process takes approximately
30days. In the meantime, we'll assign you a temporary number
to use.
